Keauhou, I Ke Ko A Ke Au
Aia nō i ke kō a ke au. Rougly translated as “wherever the current takes us,” this ‘ōlelo no‘eau suggests that in times of triumph, challenge, or somewhere in between, only time will show our deliverance. Only time will tell.
Keauhou is a trio of musicians made up of Jonah Kahanuola Solatorio and brothers Nicholas and Zachary Lum. After receiving a recordbreaking nine awards at the 2017 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, Keauhou returned to the studio to record fifteen new tracks, consisting of seven originals and eight renewed gems of mele Hawai’i. The new album, entitled I Ke Ko A Ke Au, features the talents of guest musicians Keali’i Reichel, Jeff Au Hoy, Halehaku Seabury-Akaka, Frank Ka’uikalani Damas, and Les Ceballos.
With this new album, Keauhou once again showcases their signature take on traditional Hawaiian music. Inspired by their kumu and great mele practitioners who have come before them, Keauhou delivers another unique and satiating contribution to the Hawaiian music scene today.
